Multiple Personalities Of God

Perhaps what makes honoring God difficult sometimes is because we also don’t know who we are dealing with. He disqualified King Saul from his position as king on the account of failing to follow instruction. He just didn’t listen, he negotiated and diluted Gods message. God expects us to follow instruction and if we don’t, we should understand that there will be consequences that follow. That though he is merciful, he also expects us to be good followers of his instructions. He wants us to also understand that obedience is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15 v 2-3

The hands off Personality

Deuteronomy 8v18 God gives us power to get wealth. He doesn’t give us the wealth. It is just an empowerment. He empowers the idea to give it success. Genesis 30v 41 Jacob had to think his way out of poverty and working for Laban. He had to plan, strategize and implement his plans. God didn’t do it for him. With this personality God only guarantees his favor but we do the work. God only moves when we move

The hide and seek personality Sometimes God hides from us in order for us to seek him. In the process of seeking him we learn spiritual virtues that we wouldn’t learn if God is readily available.

God expects us to run and seek him with passion even through a barren wilderness (Jeremiah 2v2) The spiritual things we desire are not surfaced, they are deep in God. Colossians 2v3. So we have to seek him out to access the depths of who he is.

Companionship Personality

With this personality God desires openness, vulnerability and friendship. Luke 18 v 9-13. God doesn’t want us to put on a show, to impress him with tongues and our fasting record. He just wants us to be real with him.
